Personally I think EVERYONE should be doing what this family is (or at least trying), it's shameful that their local authorities are persecuting them.
(Sorry I've been quiet so long. The kids are having some behavioral issues and sometimes I feel like the agencies we have coming in to help us just make things more stressful. I just haven't felt up to writing.)

That is very nice of that family to share their garden with neighborhood children.
I am sorry that you are going through difficulties right now. I hope everything smooths out soon. Also, I hope the gardening people are able to work out a solution with the town. I have neighbors who are similar. They complain about stuff in the yard.
